Land and Sea

Photographs by Richard Douglas 21 July - 1 September 2022

Land and Sea is a collection of New Zealand landscapes, photographed by Professor Richard Douglas over the past several years. Dr Douglas is a ENT surgeon by profession but his passion is photography. He has selected some of his favourite photographs for this special exhibition, which have been generously printed and framed by Progear and Parnell Gallery.

Dr Douglas’s university experience was during an era of zero or low student fees, when the cost of living was substantially less and government provided generously in support of study. Auckland health students in 2022 face many more barriers.

The hope is the exhibition will assist medical and health students experiencing financial adversity to complete their studies and fully qualify.

We hope you support this cause and donate generously!

The Kate Snow Student Hardship Fund

Kate Snow was the Dean of Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science of the University of Auckland. She retired in 2018 after 18 years of remarkable service to nursing education. Upon her retirement, a fund was established in her honour - the Kate Snow Student Hardship Fund. All the proceeds of sales from this exhibition will be donated to this fund.

This fund supports undergraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, from across all the Schools of the Faculty (Medicine, Nursing, Population Health, Optometry and Pharmacy), who find themselves in unexpected financial hardship. Its purpose is to ensure that talented students with limited financial support are not prevented from becoming our health leaders of tomorrow.
